Biography

Although born in Buffalo, Alex Breckenridge was raised in Scotland, where he was Scottish junior cross-country champion and broke the mile national record. He competed for Villanova and the US Marine Corps as a distance runner. He was AAU champion in 1959 at both 15 and 30 km, and finished sixth that year at the Pan American Games in the 10K. Breckenridge finished third at the 1962 Boston Marathon. He later was one of the first organizers of the Marine Corps Marathon.

Personal Bests: Mile – 4:13.8 (1955); 2 miles – 8:56.8i (1960); 5K – 14:32.1 (1959); 10K – 30:47.0 (1962); Marathon – 2-27:17 (1962).
