Jim Brooker, of the University of Michigan, was one of the athletes who finished in a four-way tie at 13-0 (3.96) at the 1924 Final Trials. None of the U.S. vaulters could match this height at Paris, although by finishing third to his teammates, Lee Barnes and Glenn Graham, Brooker completed a clean sweep of the medals for the United States. In 1923 he tied for first place at the NCAA.
