Biography

In the AAU 1,500 metres, Mike Durkin finished third in 1976 and second in 1980. In addition to competing in the 1976 Olympics, he finished third at the 1980 Olympic Trials, making the titular Olympic team that year. Durkin ran for the University of Illinois where he won nine Big 10 Championships.

He graduated from Illinois in 1975 and then entered law school at Chicago Kent and worked at the Chicago Merchandise Mart. Durkin started his law career with the firm of Storino, Ramello & Durkin in Chicago and later worked as the village attorney for Elmwood Park, Forest Park, and Streamwood.

Personal Bests: 800 – 1:47.68 (1980); 1500 – 3:36.72 (1976); Mile – 3:56.7 (1975); 2 miles – 8:39.3i (1974); 3000S – 8:52.2 (1975).
