Biography

James Jett won a gold medal in the 4x100 relay at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics but in the United States he is better known as an American football player. Jett played wide receiver at West Virginia University. Jett then played in the NFL from 1993-2002 with the Oakland (Los Angeles) Raiders. He was a wide receiver in the NFL and finished his career with 256 receptions, 4,417 yards gained in receptions and 30 touchdowns, and averaged 17.3 yards/reception. Jett was named to the NFL All-Rookie Team in 1993.

On the track Jett was runner-up in the 100 and 200 metres at the 1992 NCAA Championship. At the 1991 NCAAs he finished fifth in the 200 and seventh in the 100. Jett placed fifth at the 1992 US Olympic Trials in the 100, which placed him on the team for the relay. He also finished seventh at the 1991 USA Championships in the 200.
