Biography

Ed Myers of Dartmouth College and the Chicago AA tied for the 1920 AAU pole vault title but lost on a jump-off and, after winning outright in 1923 and 1924, he again lost in a jump-off in 1926. He also won the IC4A in 1919 and 1920. Myers was an alternate on the 1924 Olympic team and represented the U.S. in the post-Games meet against the British Empire. He later placed fourth in the 1927 AAU and was one of the top U.S. vaulters for almost a decade; a remarkable achievement during a period of very rapid development in the event.
