Biography

Rey Robinson was runner-up in the 1972 Olympic Trials 100 metres, and his time equaled the world record. At München he comfortably won heat six of the first round of the 100 metres. With Eddie Hart and Robert Taylor, Robinson then returned to the Olympic Village to rest before their quarter-finals. They were watching television later that day when they noticed that some heats of the 100 quarters were being started. Checking the program, they quickly realized that they had been using an older, incorrect program, and had miscalculated the time of their quarter-final. They race to the Olympic Stadium, but Robinson and Hart were too late for the heats and were disqualified. Taylor competed and eventually advanced to the final, winning a silver medal.

Personal Bests: 100 – 10.26 (1976) (9.9h (1972)); 220y – 20.8 (1974).
