Biography

Rolland Romero won the AAU triple jump in 1935. He was second in that event in 1932 and 1936 and third in 1933. He competed for LSU and Loyola of New Orleans. Romero also played football at Loyola. He said he learned how to jump in the swamps of Louisiana, “by jumping over alligators, creeks and rice swamps.” Romero was a charter member of the Loyola Sports Hall of Fame. He was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 1974.
