Biography
Costică Dafinoiu began boxing when he was 15-years-old at CS Progresul Brăila. The following year, Dafinoiu became the national junior champion. In 1973, he took part in the Friendship Cup in Galați, his first major boxing tournament, and the following year he boxed in the Golden Belt international tournament in București. At the 1976 Montréal Olympics, Dafinoiu won the bronze medal in the light-heavyweight division. In 1981, Dafinoiu retired from boxing and became a coach.
