Biography

Ilse Geisler began competing in luge in 1955. Severely hurt in a crash in 1959 in Weißenbach (Austria), she recovered to win the World Championship in 1962, repeating this success in 1963 and placing third in 1965. In between she won the silver medal at the 1964 Innsbruck Winter Olympics. She later made her living as a teacher.
