Biography

Austrian alpine skier Hilde Hofherr placed tied fourth in the downhill event at the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Winter Olympics and 24th in the slalom event. Four years later at Squaw Valley she finished tied fifth in the slalom event and tied ninth in the giant slalom.

In 1957 and 1960, Hofherr won the Austrian national title in the giant slalom, and also the downhill in 1957. She also won several FIS races between 1955 and 1960.

Hofherr worked with the ski producers Kästle and Blizzard, and also three years in Italy with Spalding. After returning to Austria with her family she became a technical delegate with the International Skiing Federation and was a jury member at the 1980 and 1984 Winter Olympics.
