April Sargent-Thomas was an ice dancer who competed with Russ Witherby. They skated together at the senior national level from 1988-92, placing on the podium all five years at the US Championships. They were third in 1988, second in 1989-91, and won the title in 1992. Sargent-Thomas and Witherby competed at four World Championships, placing eighth in 1990, and ninth in 1991-92. Sargent-Thomas later became a coach at the Philadelphia Skating Club & Humane Society. She is also an ISU Technical Specialist.
