Biography

As a 14-year-old, Carol-Ann Warner finished second to Carolyn Krau in the 1959 Southern Counties Skating Championships. She finished third the following year before becoming champion in 1962 – her first senior title. After finishing third behind winner Sally-Anne Stapleford and Diana Clifton-Peach at the 1964 national championships, Warner was selected for the Innsbruck Winter Olympics. Having spent a large part of the 1963 season out of action with her knee in plaster, she then suffered a loss of balance illness. Just two months before her Olympic selection Warner was told she may never skate again. However, at Innsbruck, Warner finished 16th in the singles, having finished eighth at the European Championships two weeks earlier.

Warner married the 1963 Canadian world figure skating champion, and fellow Olympian, Donald McPherson at London in 1965.
