Biography

Christa Zechmeister, sister of Marianne, was an Alpine skier, specialising in the technical slalom and giant slalom events. At the 1976 Innsbruck Winter Games, she finished seventh in the slalom. In the 1973/74 season she became the first ever West German female to win the slalom World Cup. In total, she enjoyed eleven slalom World Cup podiums, winning six races. She retired after the 1980 season.
