Biography

Canadian-born Rick Amann was an ice hockey defender who competed at two Winter Olympics with the German teams in 1992 at Albertville, and 1994 at Lillehammer. In total, he won 43 international caps, scored three goals, and played in two World Championships.

Domestically, Amann played with ERC Freiburg (1981-82 and 1986-87), Düsseldorfer EG (1987-96), EV Landshut (1996), and Ratinger Ice Aliens (1998-99). He won the German national title with Düsseldorf four years in a row 1990-93. He started his career in Canada with the New Westminster Bruins and played 1982-96 with University of British Columbia Thunderbirds.

From 1996-2005 Amann worked with the German TV channel DSF (later Sport1) as a hockey expert, before he returned to his home country and became an international bank manager.
