Biography

Giovanni Astegiano was an Italian biathlete. Born in the Piedmont region on the border with France, he took part in two World Championships in the individual race, placing 37th at Zakopane in 1969 and 15th two years later at Hameenlinna. He took part at the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics where he finished 22nd in the individual race and 10th in the relay. Domestically he won a total of six medals at the national championships – four gold (1969-72) and two bronze (1970, 1973).
