Biography

Maya Kidowaki was a Japanese tennis player who played professionally from 1986 to 1994. Kidowaki achieved a career-best singles ranking of 68 in the world in November 1991, and a doubles ranking of 34 in the world in March 1992.

Kidowaki won her first doubles title on the ITF circuit in August 1986 at Chatham, New Jersey (USA), with American Anne Grousbeck. She won six more ITF doubles titles, often paired with compatriot Ei Iida, as well as six singles titles. As a doubles player she reached the second round of all four Grand Slams during the early 1990s and reached the third round in the singles at the 1991 French Open. At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics she teamed with Kimiko Date, with the pair reaching the second round.
