Biography

West German luger Max Burghartswieser finished 13th at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics in the men’s singles competition. This event was his only appearance at an international competition. His career was overshadowed by his teammates Georg Hackl and Johannes Schettel so that he could only finish third at the nationals in 1986, 1989, and 1990.

Burghartswieser later became president of his home club RC Berchtesgaden. By profession, he became CEO of an IT systems house.
