Biography

Although Harri Eloranta was the best Finnish biathlete in the 1980s and 1990s, surprising everyone by winning a bronze medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics in the 10 km. Before that, his last international tournament medals came during his junior years, when he won golds in 15 km and bronze at 7.5 km at the 1981 World Junior Championships. The Olympic bronze would remain Eloranta’s only senior international championships medal, although he had a couple of more top 10 finishes at international championships. He was fifth in 20 km and eighth in the relay at the 1992 Winter Olympics, fifth in the relay at the 1994 Winter Olympics, and eighth in the relay at the 1998 Winter Olympics. His best World Championships finishes were seventh in the relay at the 1997 and 12th at 10 km at the 1989 World Championships.
