Born in Vicenza, Italy, Serge Giacchini was a French bobsledder who competed at the 1956 Cortina d’Ampezzo Olympics. Giacchini and compatriot André Donnet took part in the two-man event, which took place in milder weather conditions than normal, with little in the way of snow. As a result Giacchini was injured when the sled left the course at a speed around 60mph during the third of four runs.
