Biography

Franz Gruber was an Austrian alpine skier who specialised in slalom and giant slalom events. He participated at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics and finished an unfortunate fourth in the giant slalom. In the slalom event he was disqualified in the first run.

Gruber won only one world cup race, at Kranjska Gora in 1983. Domestically he won five national titles (slalom in 1979, 1981, and 1986, and giant slalom in 1982 and 1984).
