Biography

James “Bubba” Busceme won the 1971 AAU title at 132 pounds and was 1971-72 US Golden Gloves champion. Busceme won a bronze medal as a lightweight at the 1971 Pan American Games. Busceme turned professional in 1974 and won his first bout in June 1974 with a TKO over Arturo Cirilo. In February 1982 he fought for the WBC lightweight title, losing by TKO to Alexis Arguello. Busceme retired after a TKO loss to Mike Anderson in March 1983. His professional record was 30 wins and 6 losses. Busceme later became a school teacher in Belize.
