Biography

Basil Hansen, a right winger, began playing with the Melbourne Monarchs in 1947 and remained with that club until 1963, playing with them for his entire career. He helped the Monarchs win the Goodall Cup final three times, as champions of the Australia Ice Hockey League. His only international came at the 1960 Winter Olympics. After his playing career ended he turned to coaching and prominent in administration of Ice Hockey Victoria. Hansen was awarded life membership by the Monarchs Ice Hockey Clubs, Ice Hockey Victoria and Ice Hockey Australia.
