Ben Funk attended Yale University, graduating in 1925. He won the 1924 AAU middleweight title, which earned him a spot on the US Olympic team for the Paris Olympics. In Paris he defeated Australian Raymond Jones in his opening match but then lost a decision to Belgian Joseph Beecken in his second match.
