Biography

Greg Jones won the 1972 and 1976 US downhill championship. He competed on the World Cup circuit from 1974-77, with top overall placements of 18th in 1975-76 and 19th in 1974-75, and in 1975-76 he ranked sixth in World Cup giant slalom, after placing eighth in the 1974-75 season. Jones won a bronze medal in the combined at the 1976 World Championships, contested as part of the Innsbruck Olympics.

He skied briefly for the University of Colorado. In 1976 Jones won the Copper Mountain World Cup GS, and also had a second place in December 1974 at Madonna, Italy. At lower levels he won three Europa Cup giant slaloms. Jones raced until he broke his ankle in 1979.
