Biography

Iiro Järvi began his hockey career in 1981 with HIFK Helsinki and played there until 1988. With HIFK Järvi won the Finnish title in 1983. In 1988 Järvi joined the Quebec Nordiques and played there until 1990. He then spent one more season in North America, playing with the Halifax Citadels of the American Hockey League, before returning to Europe. From 1991-96 Järvi played again with HIFK Helsinki, then played one season with the Frankfurt Lions, one season with Klagenfurter AC and one season with SaiPa Lappeenranta, before finishing his hockey career in 1999-2000 in United Kingdom with Newcastle Hockey Club. Internationally Järvi won silver at the 1988 Olympics and bronzes from the 1987 European championships and 1991 Canada Cup. He also played with the Finnish 1989 World Championships team. After finishing his playing career, Järvi worked as an ice hockey coach with Kiekko-Vantaa and Finnish national junior team.
