Biography

Chuck Walker had only a brief career as an amateur boxer and then a professional career. He won a bronze medal at the 1975 Pan American Games, and was AAU champion that year as a light-middleweight. He made his pro début in November 1977 in Mesa, Arizona, and fought through 1980, before coming back to fight as a pro from 1984-86. He ended his pro career with a record of 11 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw, with all of his bouts taking place either in Mesa or Conroe, Texas. Even during his boxing career Walker also worked as a professional tap dancer. He later became a film writer, producer and director in Conroe. His 1976 Olympic boxing teammate, Leon Spinks, commented of him, referring to the 1976 USA Olympic boxing team, “Best dancer was the [only] white guy.”
