Biography

Defenseman Georg Kink, father of hockey pros Marcus and Georg Kink, Jr., came in seventh with the West German ice hockey team at the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics as the winner of the consolation round. In total, George Kink earned 46 international caps, scoring one goal. Domestically, he played with SC, Riessersee, Augsburger EV and later with Düsseldorfer EG (West German champion in 1975) and Kölner Haie (1979 West German champion), and eventually with EHC 70 München, EV Duisburg, Krefelder EV and SC Solingen in lower leagues. Georg Kink later became a hockey coach mostly coaching clubs in lower leagues.
