Born in Solothurn, Switzerland, Péter Kozma went on to be one of the most successful Alpine skiers for Hungary during the 1980s. At a young age Kozma was part of the Swiss junior ski team and while competing at a race in Italy he was brought to the attention of a Hungarian coach. A transfer was agreed with the Swiss association, with Kozma competing for Hungary in 1983. The following year he competed in the slalom race at the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics where he finished in 18th place. He also skied at two editions of the Winter Universiade, finishing in fourth place in 1983 and in fifth place in 1985. Kozma retired from skiing in 1987 at the age of 27 and later became a painter.
