Biography

Austrian luger Günther Lemmerer participated in two editions of Winter Olympics, at Lake Placid in 1980 and Sarajevo 1984. He placed ninth in 1980 and fifth in 1984, both times in the men’s doubles partnering Reinhold Sulzbacher and Franz Lechleitner, respectively. Lemmerer won the gold medal at the 1982 World Championships also in the doubles. He later became a luging coach.
