Biography

Adam Everett was a baseball shortstop for the United States at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, helping them win a gold medal. Everett played college baseball first at North Carolina State University and then at the University of South Carolina. He was drafted out of high school by the Chicago Cubs in the 1995 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft and then was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the first round (12th overall pick) of the 1998 MLB Draft.

Everett played 10 seasons in the majors, playing for the Houston Astros from 2001-07. He was then with the Minnesota Twins in 2008 and the Detroit Tigers in 2009-10, and finished his career with the Cleveland Indians in 2011. He had a .242 career batting average with 283 RBIs in the big leagues. He was named the Fielding Bible Award winner as the best fielding MLB shortstop in 2006. Everett stayed involved in baseball as a coach, first in the minor leagues but then in 2014 being named a bench coach for the Houston Astros.
