Ng Ser Miang

Ng Ser Miang was a Singaporean who earned a business administration degree from the University of Singapore. He went into the business world, becoming chairman of TIBS International Pte Ltd in 1975, and then served on the boards of multiple corporations and organizations, often serving as the chair, including the Singapore Insurance Ombudsman Bureau (1990-96), NTUC Choice Homes (chair) (1996-2010), NTUC FairPrice (chair) (2005-14), Rowsley Ltd (chair) (2015-), and as a Director of Singapore Press Holdings (2007-). Internationally Ng was the Singapore Ambassador to Hungary (2000-13) and to Norway (2001-), was a member of the Asian Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council (2001-08), and was nominated as a Member of Parliament (2002-05).

In sports administration Ng became vice-president of the Singapore National Olympic Council in 1990 and was chair of the Singapore Sports Council from 1991-2002. He was vice-president of the organizing committee for the 17th Southeast Asian Games in 1993 and was vice-president of the International Yacht Racing Union (IYRU) from 1994-98. Ng chaired the organizing committee from 2008-10 for the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.

Ng became a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1998. He served on the Executive Board of the IOC from 2005-10 and 2016-19 and has been an IOC vice-president from 2010-14 and 2020 through at least 2022. He has chaired the Finance Commission and the Human Resources Committee Commission, and has also served on the following commissions: Olympic Solidarity (2000-01), Coordination for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in 2008 in Beijing (2002-08), Evaluation for the Games of the XXX Olympiad in 2012 (2004-05), Coordination for the Games of the XXX Olympiad in 2012 in London (2005-12), Finance (2006-14), Audit Committee (2006-14), IOC Staff Pension Fund Board (2006-14), Coordination for the XXIV Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 (2018-20), IOC Television and Marketing Services (2018-), Olympic Channel Services S.A. (Switzerland ) (2018-), and the Coordination Commission of the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad Los Angeles 2028 (2019-). Ng was a Member of the Editorial Committee of the 2009 Olympic Congress (2007-09), and was Chairman of the 123rd IOC Session and 125th IOC Session Evaluation Commissions.
