Biography

Jan Bucher placed second in freestyle ballet at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, known as acroskiing from the mid-1990s. She was the first World Champion in the event, in 1986 at Tignes, France. She repeated as World Champion in 1989 and won a silver medal at the Worlds in 1991. Bucher retired after the 1991 season, having won 63 individual World Cup events, and was the season’s World Cup champion eight times.
