Biography

Loïc Courteau was a French professional tennis player. Courteau achieved a career-best doubles ranking of 37 in the world in July 1987, and a singles ranking of 93 in the world in April 1983. Courteau’s best success at a Grand Slam event came at Wimbledon in 1983 when he reached the third round in the singles. More established as a doubles player, he won the 1986 ATP Buenos Aires tournament teaming with Horst Skoff of Austria. Courteau competed in the singles at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics when tennis was a demonstration sport. He lost in the opening round to Jakob Hlasek of Switzerland.

After his playing career Courteau became the coach of the French Fed Cup team. He also coached Amélie Mauresmo, who won two Grand Slams and became world number one under his tutelage.
