Biography

Shozo Doi played for the Japanese Students Team at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics demonstration baseball tournament, while he was a student at Rikkyo University. He later played for the Yomiuri V9 Giants in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). Doi managed the Orix BlueWave in the early 1990s. Doi is best known for not playing later Japanese and Major League Baseball star Ichiro Suzuki, because of his unorthodox batting stance.
