Biography

Willy Stähle competed the 1972 Olympic water skiing demonstration, placing first in tricks and second in jumping. She won a bronze medal at the 1971 World Championships in jumping and as a result was named the Netherlands Sportswoman of the Year in 1971. In 1973 she placed second in tricks at the World Championships.

Stähle stopped competing in 1975 to study physical therapy. In 1983 she was badly injured in a skydiving accident, which rendered her paraplegic. She had to stop her therapy practice and studied at the Art Academy. Later in life she became somewhat of a recluse and severed all ties with her sporting past.
