Biography

Don August was a right-handed pitcher who played for the USA at the 1984 Olympic demonstration baseball tournament. He played for Chapman College in California. August was the 17th draft pick in the first round of the 1984 Major League Baseball Draft by the Houston Astros.

August played four years in the Major Leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers, from 1988-91, compiling a record of 34-30 with an ERA of 4.64. He then played in Mexico for a time, followed by five years in the Taiwan league.

After returning to the US, August obtained a teaching certificate and worked full-time as a social studies and history teacher in high schools and junior high schools. He also coached baseball at Menonomee Falls HS in Wisconsin, leading them to one state title.
