Biography

Tom Black graduated from Mississippi College in 1955 and then served two years in the US Navy, stationed in Japan. He later returned to his native Mississippi where he farmed cotton and grain and raised cattle on the Holly Grove Plantation. Black served on the board of directors for the Greenwood Country Club and Pillow Academy, was a vice-president and director of Farmer’s Supply Cooperative, an executive director and board member of Yazoo Valley Oil Mill, and was president of Leco Gin Company in Sidon, Mississippi, for 28 years.
