Biography

Garen Bloch was a track sprinter who competed at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He was a 21-time South African champion, set 12 African records, and won four World Cup medals. Bloch had difficulty with drug and alcohol addiction, but overcame that and became a counselor at the Meteffect Recovery Centre in Polokwane. He later became active in martial arts. Bloch’s brother, Sean was also a professional track cyclist. Garen Bloch died quite young in a motorbike accident in Johannesburg.
