Biography

Flatwater canoer Herbert Schreiner was Austrian national champion in the kayak singles over 10,000 metres in 1951, and was selected for the Helsinki Olympics the following year. Unfortunately, he was eliminated in the heats of the 1,000 metres kayak singles. Schreiner was affiliated with SV Forelle Steyr and later became a sports administrator with them.

Schreiner also was active as a coach for several years. From 1963-75 he trained flatwater kayakers, and from 1975-83 he trained whitewater kayakers.
