Biography

German handball player Florian Kehrmann placed fifth with his team at the Sydney Olympics Sydney in 2000 and won the silver medal four years later at Athens. At Beijing in 2008 the team placed a disappointing ninth. With the German national team, he became European Championship runner-up in 2002, and World Championship runner-up the following year. However, Kehrmann won the European Championship in 2004 and the World Championship in 2007. He won 223 international caps and scored 820 goals.

At club level, Kehrmann played with TUSEM Essen (1994-95), Sportring Solingen (1995-99) and eventually TBV Lemgo (1999-2014). He helped Lemgo win the German Championship in 2003, the German Cup in 2002, and the EHF Cup in 2006 and 2010. Kehrmann was named Handball Player of the Year in Germany in 2003, 2005, and 2006. He was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award.

Kehrmann turned to coaching after his active career and worked with TBV Lemgo, and won the German Cup with them in 2020.
