Biography

Painter and graphic artist Erich Torggler was one of the most important graphic artists of the interwar period in Tirol, Austria. In addition to commercial graphics, he created numerous works, first in the late impressionistic, then as an expressive, and later in the objective style. Torggler trained in Innsbruck at the Technical College for Painting and Drawing until World War I, when he was mobilized and served for three years. He eventually graduated in 1919. During the Nazi regime Torgger supported their philosophy and concentrated on producing Nazi propaganda until his early death in 1938. The Skier from 1932 in oil on wood has a format of 55 x 64.5 cm and is privately owned.
