Biography

Richard Demeyer received his sculptor’s education at the Sint-Lukas Institute and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. He specialized in metal engraving and designed art, utility and decorative objects in copper, silver and other metals. In addition, Demeyer also created designs for other architects and sculptors. Cooperating with furniture designer Charles van Beerleire, he also designed complete interiors, e.g. metal decorations and lighting fixtures. His works are attributed to the Art Nouveau style. He signed his works “De Meyer” but his birth name was Demeyer.
