Biography

Karl Schenk submitted his poem Speerkampf (Spear Fight) to the 1928 Amsterdam Art Competitions. He was a law student, who wrote poems and short stories as a hobby. He was also an active athlete, especially as a handball player and track and field athlete, and an official and coach for 1. FC Nürnberg, and from 1929 for VfB Rehau. In Rehau, he established himself as a lawyer and still ran his office there in the 1950s. His poem was submitted as calligraphy in the graphic section of the art competitions in the same year by both Rudolf Koch and Emil Rudolf Weiss.
