During his youth, Takis Sakellariou was an active athlete and then worked as a physical education teacher and coach in Nafplio, near Athina, from 1927. From 1929-31, he completed his studies at the physical education academies in Budapest and Berlin. As a pioneer of the science of sports, he developed scientific methods for training and wrote works about physical education and its history and philosophy. He visited the 1936 Berlin Olympics, and was impressed by the organization, which influenced his further work in Greece. He also promoted sports medicine and physical education of women. He later became Director of National Physical Education College (EASA) in Athina. His 1936 submission was The Olympic Idealism (O Ολυμπιακός Ιδεαλισμός).
