Biography

Born in Torino, Italian sculptor Filippo Tallone moved with his family to Pavia, where he attended the Municipal School of Painting. He and his wife, painter Giovanna Nascimbene (1901-61), and other young painters and sculptors, created an artistic grouping pledged to provincialize the local artistic culture. In 1924 Tallone participated in the Venice Biennale, where he presented again in 1954 with concrete works. In the late 1920s he moved to Milano dividing his activities between there and Pavia. In Milano he taught at the Brera Academy. Only a boxer’s statue is known by Tallone, but it was made in 1933 and is therefore probably not identical to the work submitted in 1948.
