Biography

German-born Hugo Scherzer began his musical studies at the Stern Conservatory in Berlin in 1910, although he later emigrated to the US and became a US citizen. A well-known classical pianist, Scherzer gave musical lessons at the Sherwood School in Hollywood. His residence was Santa Barbara, California. He disappeared while swimming in the ocean on Christmas Eve 1940. His body was recovered from the ocean near Santa Monica one week later.
