Biography

Werner Gallusser received a doctor’s degree at the University of Zürich for his thesis with the title “The Chorus and the Opera” in 1947. In 1950, he translated the libretto of Sir Arthur Bliss’ opera The Olympians. Later, he wrote and translated libretti for other operas as well as musical theoretical works. In 1958, he went to Australia and worked from 1960-83 as the librarian of the Elder Conservatorium Librarian at the University of Adelaide; while at the same time he was a teacher at Goodwood Tech. In 1982, he moved to the main library of the university.
