Ivan Zakharov was entered for the 100 m dash at the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm but did not start. One year prior, he placed third in this event at the Russian championships representing SKL from Moskva (Moscow).
Zakharov also became famous as a skier. Together with three friends from his club, he was the first to cross-country ski from Moscow to St. Petersburg in December 1911. It took the group 12½ days. They repeated this feat in 1936, this time requiring just eight days. He worked as a fisheries scientist.
