Biography

May Hjertberg was a Swedish all-round track and field athlete who represented IK Ymer in Borås in the 1950s. Hjertberg won silver in the pentathlon at the 1951 national championships before winning gold in the event the following year. She also won 12 golds in relay races along with multiple medals in the 80 metres hurdles. Hjertberg was named as an alternate for the 4 x 100 metres relay at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics but did not run after the Swedish team were eliminated in the heats.
