Biography

German rower Robert Sens participated in the 2000 Sydney and the 2004 Athens Olympics. In 2000, he partnered Detlef Kirchhoff in the coxless pairs and finished ninth. In 2004, Sens was a member of the quadruple sculls that was fifth. At World Championships, he won three gold medals, in 1998 with Kirchhoff in the coxless pairs, and in 2002 and 2003 with the quadruple sculls. Sens added a bronze medal in 2007, also with the quadruple sculls.

Domestically, Sens won national titles in 1998 and 2000 with Kirchhoff, and in 2003 with the quadruple sculls. In 1997, 2005-06, and 2008 he also won the eights title on four occasions. Sens later turned to coaching and became Regional State Coach for Rhineland-Palatinate and Chief National Under-23 Coach for scullers. In 2020 he was appointed Chief National Coach in Austria. He married Australian rower Catriona Oliver.
